A person's faith hinges on what they believe about the Bible. At Cornerstone Church we believe that the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man. As such, the Bible is the only reliable, accurate, and definitive guide in matters of faith and conduct.
The one true God reveals Himself in the Bible as the eternally self-existent "I AM," the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Scriptures teach us that God is both tremendously loving and completely holy.
Scriptures teach us that God loves us and that He created us holy. In the beginning we were able to fellowship with God directly, however, man by voluntary transgression fell. Through a sinful choice we lost our holiness and as a result we lost our ability to directly interact with God. Separation from God led not only to physical death, but also spiritual death. As a result of this original sin all of our relationships would suffer.
Despite our inability to interact directly with God, as we did at first, God's love for us remained unfailing. From the beginning God had a plan to restore our relationship with Him and others. At the center of His plan was to send His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus was born of a virgin, meaning, He was born without sin, which was something no other person since Adam and Eve could claim. As both God and man, Jesus maintained His holiness all throughout His life, not sinning even once, something that no one else had ever done. What this means is that Jesus modeled and taught us how to interact with God and others in perfect way.
According to God's plan, Jesus allowed men to crucify Him on a cross. By sacrificing Himself in this manner God accepted Jesus' life as payment for the sin of all who believe in Jesus and follow His mode of living, thus making it possible for mankind to directly interact with God again. Faith in Jesus restores our relationship with God and out of our renewed relationship with God we find the resources we need to have good relationships with other people. Our relationship with our spouse, parents, children, employers, employees, and in the community all become more productive and enjoyable as a result of restoring our relationship with God.
